Yulong Storm (No.3), Along The River (No.7) & Sigh (No.9)

Dangers

Our Heidi (No.2) & Mrs Chrissie (No.16)

This race is down the straight over the 1100m. Sigh is a deserved favourite and looks hard to beat. Getting in to be pretty short now but hoping most of the damage has been done and she will start $2.50 plus at the jump. She looks a talent. Her two runs last campaign were excellent. She bolted in first up at Sandown before coming here and just being touched off by Jungle Jim in a race where they gapped the other runners. We haven’t seen her since then but her recent jump out at Pakenham looked real sharp and suggests she has come back well.

Only slight query is that her runs on soft ground in the preparation prior were well below what she produced on Good 3 tracks last campaign. She has won a Soft 5 though and fancy this track won’t be as wet as a couple of those she didn’t run well on in that preparation. The middle to wide draw suits and gives her a big advantage over her main rival in the betting Mrs Chrissie who draws gate one and that should see her hard to hold out.

Couple at odds to save on just in case, that soft track little nagging doubt just sits with me. Along The River was good first up after bombing the start for the new stable. He got through the line nicely late, he will be better for that, draws wide here which may suit and can improve.

Yulong Storm got back to winning ways last start and is more than capable of running a big race down the straight so happy to have something on him as well.

I will have 4 Units the win on Sigh and 0.75 Unit the win on both Yulong Storm and Along The River!

Dangers

Pinstriped (No.3) & Flash Aah (No.12)

This race is over the mile. I gave Pinstriped life after a couple of ordinary runs to kick off his campaign and then he of course turned it around at his fourth run back to walk in at Sandown last start. Still want to see him do it again before chiming into him at the high $2 he is for this race. His main rival in the betting is Keats and I can’t come at him so perhaps this race is setup for something to cause a bit of an upset.

I think Bermadez could be the big improver here third up from a spell. He wasn’t given much hope first up at Geelong and then was doing his best work late last start behind Cardinal Gem. This race looks to setup really nicely for him on the map. He can roll forward and stalk Keats and be there ready to pounce in the straight and his best form is certainly good enough. Around that $12-15 mark happy to have something on him.

I will have 1 Unit the win on Bermadez here!

Cap De Joie (No.4) & Warm Smile (No.9)

This race is for the fillies and mares over the 2028m. I am not completely sold on Cap De Joie running a strong 2000m. She hasn’t really attacked the line to my eye at her past couple of starts and as such I think she is a risk again here as favourite today.

I reckon you can make a case that Thought Provoking should be unbeaten this campaign. She was a tragedy beaten first up at Mornington and then was a bit stiff at Sandown as well last start I thought. She had to wait for the run to appear and come across heels while the winner Unusual Culture had full momentum and was off and gone. I thought she was going better and definitely holding Cap De Joie on the line there and I think she can beat her home again here. She maps to roll forward and take up a position on speed, she handles the soft conditions and I think she is the one to beat.

La Dragontea was OK last start. She was OK first up, just feel this might be the race they have targeted with her. 12 months ago she was starting close to favourite in this race. I reckon it is an easier race this year. She gets an in form Micky Dee on board and at the double figure odds happy to save on her.

Dangers

Scallopini (No.1) & Coal Crusher (No.9)

This is the BRC Sprint over the 1350m. Cracking race this. Wide open. I thought Lady Of Honour could run well here. Her three runs back have been good and I think the good draw and map here gives her a chance around Doomben to turn the tables on Cardinal Gem. I think she either lands outside the leader or one out one back in a stalking position and from there she can get into the finish around the $15-20 mark.

Sinawaan looks primed for a big first up run. I loved his most recent trial. He really charged through the line there and we know on his day he is a horse with a lot of ability. I can just see him getting into a three wide with cover trailing position and really launching late. Expecting him to run well. If he runs to near his best he is very capable of winning this.

Holyfield drops a notch in grade here and also comes back to Doomben where he races well. He also gets his preferred soft ground. He might need a touch of luck finding a spot from the draw but this is his level and I think he is also capable of running well at double figure odds in what looks a wide open race.
